Complex Profiled Wall's strange appearance!!!

Hi all,

I've noticed something strange while modeling a complex profiled wall with skirting,

the strange appearance in 2D View as the wall has no end lines and the door frame lines are not there.

When compared it with the same profile in versions 26 & 25, I found it working well in the two, the 2D problem is found only in 27, so is it related to the update 5003? I think so.

1) In v.25 (7000), the 2D View is correct:

2) In v.26 (6019), the 2D View is the same as 25:

3) In v.27 (5003), here's the strange behaviour:

**Despite the three profiles have the same BM & 3D appearance:

There is a similar setting in the complex profile setup.

Select each skin fill and turn on the cut end lines.

Is it just the end line setting in the floor plan and section settings?

Hi @Mahmoud Qenawi, if it’s not that, is it the wall end lines ?  I had a similar problem in AC27 with my door and window edges being white. I had to turn on that tiny tick in the composite settings representing the cavity. I spent hours looking through other line settings.

This is what really annoys me about AC, too many line settings scattered all over the place and add to that MVO’s, GO’s & GOC’s, it’s a huge mess to find the settings to change them.

Please GS make it very simple for us not more and more complicated.

Hi Barry,

For sorry it's not that reason, even some complex profiles within (AC27 Default template) look also strange while others have end lines.

Hi @mthd,

Yeah I got your trick but as you say it's in composite walls not complex profiled as in my case.

Regarding the lines you are struggling with in Archicad, I feel it's the approach of introducing Archicad for all sorts of users should be updated every year with each version, as the beginner not as the professional and who never used BIM is not like who comes from Revit platform or Autocad, sure who comes from Chief Architect will face some problems as CA is so smart & easy software.

I have seen AC grow and grow in complexity since V7.0 when I first learned it from a course here in Australia in 02. Yes true CA is simple and automated but soon as you get too customized in home design, it becomes very annoying. For example, split level homes make things difficult for many CAD  users but it was very difficult in CA and that’s why I changed to AC. CA has gotten better over time but I still prefer AC for 3D modeling, drafting and presentation. CA is very good for framing quantities, cabinets and estimating. (As long as the building is relatively straight forward.)

I just wished that when I switch on true line weight in AC, that it will give me a list of lines on the screen in front of me. And then it also gives me a direct link to those lines in order to change them. Wouldn’t that be a big time saver ?

Another sneaky hiding spot for line settings to keep in my already overloaded memory 😆.

Yeah, That's it, I don't know how the pen color in the pen set changed to be white.

Thanks Barry & @mthd , I'm happy I've learnt this interesting info.
