As sponsors of the annual ReUse Italy contest, Graphisoft is honored to help designers approach classic sites with a mix of innovative ideas, reverence for history, and cutting-edge technology. We provide participants with free access to Archicad, a ready-made Archicad site model, and access to BIMcloud to facilitate team collaboration.

The recent ReUse the Thermae competition received 461 entries from around the globe, including 178 entries completed in Archicad. Designers were asked to “protect and musealize” the historic Thermal Baths of Curinga in Calabria, Italy. And now that the designs are in, we can safely say the creativity and skill of the participants speaks for itself!

Graphisoft is thrilled to name “Percorso delle Terme” by Zsofia Arnhoffer and Nikolett Magyar as the winner of the ReUse Italy Archicad Prize. This award honors the team that created their entry in Archicad and best demonstrated both design and technical excellence.

“Percorso delle Terme” employed a sophisticated system of layers to protect the existing Thermae structure while simultaneously suggesting its previous form and welcoming visitors safely into its spaces. As the designers explain, “Both the path and the roof are tools to understand movement and form of the original building. The perforated panels work as an imprint of the disappeared parts which the visitor has to interpret.”

“When evaluating the projects, what struck me about this project is not only the interesting project proposal but also how Zsofia and Nikolett represented their project with the tools and functionalities of Archicad.

I got a subtle sense of their knowledge of Archicad and how the features of our software can be best exploited" said Giovanni Logiudice of Graphisoft Italy and a member of the competition jury.

Congratulations to Zsofia Arnhoffer and Nikolett Magyar!
