Module Files

Hi,

Direct Question: Is there a limit or restriction of any kind for the MOD file type????
Are we no supposed to link more than a certain number of Hotlinks? or a file size for each hotlink???

We're working on a big teamwork project, and we are using Hotlinked Module Files (actually MOD files) to share the information between the teammates.

So we work over 7 PLP files and we save each as MOD files to share those smaller files trough the hotlink network.

now you can not update all the hotlinks because AC12 crashes....
Pleeeaassee tell me if there is some kind of limits for that...

Thanks in advance!!!

Are all your MOD files in version 12? We have found that legacy MODs will cause crashing when attempting to update.

AC27 v. 4060 w/ MEP, Cadimage, Twinmotion 2023.2.2 using AC from AC6.0, 2021 MacPro M1 chip, Adobe CC. Used AC on both platforms.

Hi Scott.
Yes, my MOD files are saved and updated every day in AC12.
those Mod files are replicas of PLP files that is the way we are "seeing" the other PLP files.

But here is random, it crashes some times without some consistent behavior.. well only one: The hotlinks update very fast and you can keep working, but once you want to save..... it leaves you with a Scratch file, a lock file and the plc.....

Someone from Graphisoft????? it worked well in AC 11 !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks !!

There are posts here from people with 100's of hotlinked modules. (More than I would want to maintain, personally!)

But, there are also some known bugs in 12 related to hotlinks. Hopefully, a hotfix from Graphisoft will be released before too long to address this. Maybe someone knows a workaround for you until then...

Cheers,
Karl

Thanks Karl.

We still have the problem, but we're still working.

I would like to know how different the "new" hotlink manager is.
It seems to read more information than before.

Regards

Nando.
