'Outside the roof' is pretty vague. You may need to upload an image.

Are you using the Skylight tool to place it, or are you placing it using the Object tool?

Cheers,

OK Angus, I need you to tell me which tool you are using to place it.

You should be using the Skylight tool, as opposed to placing a Skylight library part using the Object tool. Are you doing that?

Cheers,
Link.

Angus,

Did you use the gravity tool (for roofs!) before inserting on plan?
If yes, try matching the home story of the roof with the home story of the skylight (see specific parameter within the skylight object).

I hope this can help you to start with.

hey link, i am using the skylight tool, not the object tool.

and joeri, i can do this after i use the gravity to roof

furthermore, angel should be match to the roof and the roof should be big enough, so the skylight will be placed successfully

ArchiCAD, despite the name, is not CAD.

It is VB.

Or, what is more commonly known, BIM.
