Pan with multi-touch?

Just a simple question - how do you pan on a macbook with multitouch?
In plan views I seem to be able to hold down 'alt' and pan with two fingers, but this doesn't seem to work in 3d views, where two fingers zoom regardless of holding down 'alt'.
Similarly, how do you orbit?
I've always used a mouse with cad but figured I should try to learn how to use this trackpad, especially while traveling.
Thanks!

On my MBP, after clicking the Orbit button, I can click and hold with my thumb on the trackpad, then use a finger to Orbit the model. Same could be done for Pan: start by clicking the Pan button; both are in the lower left edge of the 3D Window.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.
