Any kind of guarantee would vary by region as the resellers have control over their sales policies.
Since ArchiCAD runs in demo mode indefinitely without a protection key, new users can evaluate much of the functionality freely. Full functionality does require a key, but resellers do sell pay-per-use (PPU) keys that are good for a certain number of hours. I suspect that they might recommend PPU for someone not sure about making the purchase.
It will be interesting to hear what you reseller offers you.
