U button in Parameter list

Hello,
In the parameter list of a GDL object, there are three buttons.
The first one on the left shows or hides the parameter,
the second one makes the parameter subordinate in a list,
and the third one makes the description text bold.
What does the forth one, the one with the "U" shaped icon do ?
Thank you,
Peter Devlin

Peter,

The "U" button makes a parameter Untransferable from object to object.

For instance, say you don't want to be able to inject the text from one object to another instance. Then you would want the "U" turned on.

Hello Erich,
Thank you for the information. I will test it.
Could you tell me where in the documentation
this is mentioned ? I have looked through all
of the documentation and did not find it.
Thanks,

Peter, the "U" button exists since AC 9.
It was discussed some years ago on this forum.

Already, we told GS that this feature was undocumented.
Still not documented in AC 13 (GDL Ref Guide or Online Help)... Sigh.

Hello Olivier,
Glad to hear from you.
Yes, I vaguely remember that discussion
but forgot what was said.
I would have done a search but I did not
know what keyword to use
Thanks,

Hi Peter,

Try searching for U Button Parameter List at http://archicadstuff.blogspot.com/

This engine works much better than the internal search of AC Talk.

Really better.

Tibor clear explained. But I do not get (AC12 2782).
I turned on the button "U" in one of the parameters of the object "Chair 01 12". Save changes. Then place the object on the plan. Changed the value of parameter in other than the default. Then re-opened the panel configuration of the object and pass parameters to another object (Chair 02 12). Contrary to the assertion that the values marked with "U" should not be passed, it was successfully transferred.

Hello vistasp,
Thank you for the link http://archicadstuff.blogspot.com/.
It does work better.

Hello Valery W,
Thank you for the link to that thread and
for testing the "U" button.

So, it seems that it is not only not documented
but it does not work.

Thanks to all,
Peter Devlin

Victory!
I was doing wrong! Passing parameters must occur in the opposite direction.
I would say this: The parameter with the letter "U" is immune to mutation (change) . If the object passed parameters from another object, this parameter will not be changed.
