It should be embedded in the "File/File Special" pull-down menu.

Open Add-On Manager and verify that there is no error message associated with the 3DStudio In add-on. As seen in the attached screenshot, the add-on itself will place its menus where you anticipated them: Design > Design Extras > Import 3D Studio file

Many people like David use their Work Environment to put this into the File Special menu as well, as it makes sense to be there from a consistency point of view.

Cheers,
Karl

Right. The hotfix process updates any installed add-ons, so it is possible that you installed an older version of the 3ds-in addon after applying a hotfix.

Just go to the Help menu to get to the goodies download site to get the updated add-on (assuming that the most recent one for today's hotfix has been put there already).

You can save to 3ds only when you are in the 3d window of archicad, so go to the 3d window and then from File > Save as> you will see the option to export to *.3ds.. hope this helps!

The file is an outdated Add-On that cannot be used with this ArchiCAD version
Is there a way to import .3ds files into Archicad14 / MacOsX ? The suggestion above doesn't work and I have no option to update in the Add-on Manager.

Thanks.

You have to download and install the add-on. Go to the AC 14 Help Menu > ArchiCAD 14 Downloads which will send you the the web page for the 14 "goodies" including 3DS In.
