Help what has happend to my 3D window?

I can view my model in the 2D window and elevations etc but when I go to the 3D window all I get is blank screen. And yes I have tried the 'fit in window' option. It happend after I applied cladding to roof panels using cadimage roof accessory but even deleting all the panels has not solved it.

Sometimes the camera for the perspective view gets a bit confused and shows nothing.

To reset it. open the Navigator Preview then CTRL-Shift and click and drag in the preiew window to set the camera location.
CTRL-ALT and click and drag in the preview window to set the camera target.

These are the shortcuts on Windows anyway.

Otherwise use the axonometric view rather than the perspective.

Thanks barry but it didn't work (and I hate axon views). I ended up copying and pasting the model into an earlier backup file of the project. Lucky I was only model building and hadn't started construction docs/layouting setting up views yet so it wasn't too much of a drama in the end.

Another option is to physically place a new camera on the plan.
And then open that in the 3D window.
This may also reset the default view but I am not sure.

hey,

i think what you have done is you accidentally turned the cutting plane mode accidentally. the default shortcut is "control + Y/ apple + Y". This is quite annoying at times since its very close to Control + T for your general settings.

In the 3D OpenGL perspective view the model is cut by an invisible plane. Fit in window appears to shrink the model to a small dot. The bug does not occur while viewing the model in the axonometric mode or with the Internal 3D engine.

the solution:

# Go to perspective OpenGL 3D window

Hit Fit In window - the model will “disappear” – it will move very far away from you
# Select all the window area with the arrow tool – you will probably see 2 or more distant selection dots
# If you select these points separately, you will probably see that one represents many elements, while the other marks only a single element (this is a bogus data element -- most likely a wall)
# Delete this element
# Save and close the file to clear the bad data from the memory
# Reopen the file
# 3D is now probably fixed (if not repeat above steps)
# Redraw the element(s) you deleted

Thanks I'll give this a shot if the problem reoccurs.

Quite annoying after many hours of hard work and fearing you have lost it all.
