wall layer 'off' still effecting wall layer 'on'

My new walls are turned off, yet their intersection with the demo wall layer that is turned on is still showing up. My first thought was to lower the wall priority number of the new walls so that they would not effect the demo walls on the plan..... but if i do that... the same thing will happen on the new floor plan... all the demo walls cut my new walls (eventhough they are turned off)

any suggestions?

Your Demo, Existing, and New Construction layers need to have different Intersection Groups -- higher vs. lower numbers in this case are irrelevant.

How do you set this? Is it in the Layers dialogue?

Yes. See below (the column to the left of Layer Name).

THANK YOU!
You saved me several hours and numerous headaches.
You are the best!
Don't forget you HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO save the number status with the Layer Combinations.
