!Restored: Weird window

I must be missing something but I just can't see what I'm doing wrong.

I have an existing wall that has a window in it. I want to dry line the wall by using an Archicad composite wall placed in front of the existing wall, my problem is that when I place a window in the dry lining composite wall the "empty hole" window (in fact any window at all I place in the wall) disappears from the 2d plan.

I can see it in the 3d window but zilch in the 2d plan, I can't even do a "select all windows" to pick it up.

Any ideas wot stoopid muppet thing I'm missing

Is your empty hole window sill above your floor plan cut plane, and not set to symbollic? (although with sill height at 1280 above wall base, and wall base at -290, I'm thinking that's unlikely).... (or make your wall's floor plan display symbollic cut, I don't know, I'm confusing myself now!)

I can't suss it at all. What has me puzzeled is that it is only happening to one particular composite wall type and anything that has a Complex Profile added to it.

I haven't had enough time to check things out properly but to get round the problem I've found that deleting the wall and redrawing and reinserting the windows temporarily works till they vapourise from the 2d plan window.

Tomorrow I shall hopefully get a bit of time to play around.

Cheers

Following on from what s2art said...

What is your floor plan cut plane set at? If it is less than 990 then your window is above your cutplane and therefore not shown - From your screenshot of the settings the window is set 1280 above the base of wall. Base of wall is 290 below the storey level. So the window is 1280-290=990 above the storey level.

I imagine this is probably the case, unless you have the floor cutplane set way to high. If the problem is occurring in the layout book then check your view settings, as the floor cutplane setting can be customised for each view. If not double-check all the other visibility settings to see where it is going. The main thing to remeber is if the window does not cross over your cutplane setting then it will never show.

I have about the same problem. but the problem is not with the window/door (they dont show in 2D) but with the complex wall that i just built. The same windows/doors show on a regular wall but not on a complex wall...

A shot in the dark - but there WAS a problem with one version of the US library and the custom profile walls. Try updating your library and your Archicad (both done from the Help menu) and check again.

Be sure to report the case on the gsus web site!
