Profiled Walls / Beams

Hi All,

I have created a profile that draws roads with side-walks. The profile works well on the straights only or curves only, but a combination of the two produces undesirable results when viewed in 3d. In other words, profiled walls do not intersect well between straight lines and curves. Is there a work around without rigorous effort?

Hi Alick,

Are the straight profiles tangential to the curves? Have a look at this recent thread and see if it solves your problem.

Hi Vistasp,

Thanks for your quick reply. I draw walls using polyline method and assume the software is intelligent enough to create tangents as I sweep the profile. I have tried to manually correct the intersections but to no success. I have even tried to put these profiles on different layer index, still to no success. Using a zero layer index gives the profiles some degree of success but the profiles never intersect.

I am using AC 12 on windows xp Sp2.

Could you post some screen shots that show the result and the profiles involved?

Hi Adytc,

I have attached screen shots as requested. The profiled wall seems to work well with the arctangetial tool from the pet palate in handling curves and straights. However, non tangetial situations are not handled properly. Is there another workaround?

Are your reference lines continuous?

Hi Alick,

Try creating the curved parts by selecting the "Straight Wall" geometry method and then magic wand an arc (you can set the smoothness of the curve by going to Options > Magic Wand Settings and changing the number of segments along arcs).
