snap to a point within a fill?

I've got a fill set as a 2'x2' grid (ceiling tiles). I want to snap to a point in that fill (at the intersection of tiles) to properly insert lights, etc. I can't seem to do this, though I'm sure there's a way. Any insights?

make a special grid system alternative that matches the interval and snap to the grid intersections. [ ie: the tilted grid option need not be tilted]

Array/Matrix hotspots throughout your fill.

EDIT: I mean the background grid.....

To follow up on Dwight's advise: set your Snap Grid to 2' x 2' Spacing (this will leave the visible Main Grid as is), move the User Origin to the Fill Origin (you may need to disable snapping to move the User Origin to the correct point).

The easiest way in my opinion, is to turn on the Fill Origin in the model view options. Then, you can move your lights there and move it 2' or 4' with the constraints.
