External Views and Unlinked Markers

Laura Yanoviak

AC11: We have a project with multiple phases. Each phase has its own model file containing Views specific to that phase. A master file contains the Layout book, where the external Views are placed as Drawings. The problem is, the floor plan Drawings are losing their marker references after they are placed in the Layout book.

Is this typical behavior that we've somehow managed to avoid until now, or is something wrong?

I just tested this with 11 & 12, and I found it worked as long as I had the marker reference set for either the first placed drawing of the viewpoint or the first placed drawing of the selected view. Of course make sure you didn't place the view on any layout in the model file just for a quick print. The markers just show #DWGID in the model file, but seem to reference fine in the separate layout file. I you have it set up like this and still are having problems, maybe someone smarter than myself can help.
