Reading through a lot of posts here its frightening how many people are advocates of DELL have you people used other machines?
At the beginning of the year two friends bought DELL laptops and both machines have been back in the shop longer than theyve been used. My work purchased five Dells because the name apparently, now these we being flogged as CAD workstations P4 3.2Ghz 1Gig ram all the bells and whistles, well at least on paper. These machines are built from extremely low quality components which eliminate potential to increase performance, also Dell drops this annoying customised version of XP over the top. Also they really shoddy Motherboards, speak to any computer technician not employed by DELL and the will tell you to stay clear.
People see DELL's everywhere ie library , shops, banks and think they must be good machines but they really should only be used for data entry and wordprocessing.
Dont be fooled by the workstation tag!
Im using an AMD XP 2800+ and it leaves any P4 Dell Ive used for dead.
DELLS ARE NOT TRUE WORKSTATIONS.
