SEO mesh doesn't remove top of my wall

I'm modelling an unusual shape building. The main building - see on the attached screen shot - is created through mesh substraction from another mesh .When I place the wall and try to use the outer mesh - which forms the body of my building - as operator to shape my wall ( by subtraction upwards ) it doesn't work.Otherwise Mesh to Wall SEO works.

Any good tips welcome!

Has the wall been subtracted from the mesh?
To check select the mesh.
Is the highlight the entire shape of the mesh or is there a hole where the wall is?
If there is a hole then there is nothing for the SEO to sutract from the wall.

Otherwise if the mesh is solid and the operator and the wall is the target then the SEO should work.

Hi Barry,

There is no hole on my mesh as you meant.

My wall is the target and I want to subtract the mesh - see highlighted below - upwards , so that it would leave me the wall only underneath the shell.

When using the mesh as operator in SEO action, it will only work when the mesh is solid. The other two mesh options of just the top plane or hollow will not trim.

You could use the mesh to roof add-on to trim the wall.

You might also try using the inner mesh as the operator for the wall.

Erika,

This is correct.

Barry,

This confirms what you said , I think I slightly misinterpreted your quote.
I move on to try the others.....

Sorry i don't have any more helpful suggestions other than those already posted.

But that shell is nice modelling .. hats off! Its a shame we have to jump through so many hoops in ArchiCAD to get this (a simple shell surface with thickness) done.

Care to share how this was done? It looks painful to me ... but great result.
cheers,
