Raked Beams

How do you draw raked beams to pergola, ie what height do they pitch off because roof only gives your pitch, not highest point dimension. You can measure on section, but how do you accurately?

You may need a picture to explain that question.

Are you asking how do you draw a rafter of as specific length?

You probably don't. You draw it to fit, then see how long it is.

You can draw lines and stretch the rafter to a specific point.

You can edit the rafter to a specific lenght.

I think you may be wanting to know what that length means when you set it. Is it long point, short point, centerline, etc... ?

You may be interested in OBJECTiVE. It provides a timber and steel library, with tools for placing, cutting, and rotating members. You can draw and cut your beams directly into the section if you wish. And more to the point, it provides the size measurements you need. If you refer to the attached image, the object settings show the length of the beam at its greatest extents (irrespective of the end shaping).
