I see that Graphisoft EcoDesigner for ArchiCAD12 has just been announced!

Sounds excellent!

Will be very interested to see further details when released.

Ah! So THAT's where the 500% error came up!

Not my statement, but I'd call that funny!

As I mentioned before,
I saw ED demonstrated (by two different) booth personnel at AIA in SF, and
it's about RELATIVITY (very useful) stuff. That is powerful in-of itself.
Bought mine on the spot!

Ouch!
I'd call it funny, but he also has a valid point. You should always have some instruction no matter how simple a tool is. If you don't clearly understand the inputs, you could end up with meaningless results. You'd be amazed how many people I've seen trying to get results without producing a remotely intelligible model...

That's not my experience. In fact I had a chance to try your modular window joinery tool the other day and was creating complex Velfac windows within minutes with no instruction.

Funny, and by the original way of humor exposing some weakness in a unforgettable way.

Stupid would be not recognizing that.

Hi Guys,

I have read your questions and comments and went after the answers with GS that were not answered yet. So here is what I could find out from them:

Accuracy of calculations: I was told that during calibrating the engine for GS the results were comparable to more detailed calculations in engineering software within +/- 5-8% accuracy. Nevertheless as many times stated here ED is not an analysis tool for engineers. Rather this is an “energy evaluation” tool for architects to help them make “informed design decisions”.

Performance of engine: VIP core is one of the fastest engines. I was told they have not heard of any size of model that could make it hang, not even for minutes. So I reckon whatever model ArchiCAD can handle with ease will not be a problem for ED either.

Continuity of ED development: I was told that GS is fully committed to continue the ED product. As a first step free compatibility update of ED will be released parallel with AC13.
