What do you use Complex Profiles for??

Good day,

I'm just getting into using complex profiles and I'm starting to develop a good list of favorites for our office. As of now, I only have some complex profiles for foundation walls with a footing and sill plate.

I am wondering, what do you use complex profiles for? I would think that you wouldn't use them for floors (as you can use the slab tool pretty nicely) or other parts of the building that can be easily modeled with other parts of the program, though I may be completely wrong on this.

The roof was made entirely with Custom Profiles.

Kliment,

Can you please let me know how you made that downspout with a profiler?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Srinivus
Until Kliment anwswers:
I believe he made a profile of the side view, and then extruded the width.
That's how he got the bump around the cornice.
We'll soon fine out if I'm right or wrong?

May be, but I am interested to know how the hollow inside was done if that was a complex profile.

I might be wrong, but don't think downspout it's hollow inside.
I don't know of a way to do that.
As soon a Kliment get's back, we'll find out!

I can't speak to how Kliment is using complex profiles for a downspout with offsets but doing a hollow is no problem. Just make your fill for the profile and then with the fill selected use the fill tool to cut out an appropriate interior form - just as you would with a slab or fill in plan.

I used CP because I wanted downpipe to be hollow and have a square section with fillet. So I got the contour line of the downpipe from section, copied it to plan and magicwanded it with a CP wall. Then saved it as a LibPart.
