zones automatic recognition method

Achille Pavlidis

As i understand, the automatic recognition construction method for zones, works only if a space is completely enclosed by walls.
But what happens if a part of the space is a wall which belongs to a library part, like for example the elevator? (see attached image)
In that case the automatic recognition doesn't work, and the zone must be drawn by hand.

Why?

Just draw a Line across the area in question that has the "Zone Boundary" option turned "On".

Thanks David.

Although it would be much nicer if the elevator had the boundary option for the wall.

I prefer to draw the elevator's walls with the wall tool so I can use composites.

You have a point, Erika.

The fact is that at least in Greece the elevator shaft is almost always made by pured concrete, so the composites are not so usefull.
Secondly with the walls i automatically get the bottom pit which is great help in sections.
And third with the wall i get the shaft doors.

Achille, you make excellent points as well 😉

I've found so many shortcomings in the elevator library part that for each project I have to decide which parameters of the Elevator library part(s) are usable and appropriate for that type of project.

Just another example of the bad and getting worse Archicad Library
