Users worldwide? No one can really tell. The amount of ... users can be based on sold licenses but this is tricky because some offices already left the building (not satisfied, stopped working, multiple software applications on the shelve, ...).
The only barometer possible is an overview of upgraded licenses :
AC13 = ... %, AC12 = ... %, AC11 = ... %.
For example (purely hypothetical!) this proves to be 35% of users working on AC10 and higher, 20% still on AC9 and AC8 and 45% on AC7 and lower. Only few of the '45% licenses' can be counted as in use.
Of course resellers know the percentages in their area and GS has the big picture. IMO this is definitely no information to share with us.
On the other hand the turnover of a company is publicly and is an indication of possible increase. Maybe it's in licenses, perhaps in additional services like VB, Ecodesigner, ...
I agree it would be nice to know more, Of course I would be smiling with 2 million+ users but I wouldn't mind only having 20.000 hardcore users...
