Personally I do not recommend you buying it. It is cheap but since I bought it 3 years ago I am continuing to curse its plastic mechanics and paper handling. But if you take this one you will absolutely need a roll feed for it.

Stefano, I print via USB and the quality is as good as the paper you use.
Better paper, better quality.
For it's price and the number of prints I do I am very happy.
Next time I would get the roll feeder

stefibe:

I have a 110+nr. Have not tried connecting it via USB and Airport. I use the ethernet connection (seems a bit faster than USB, plus I have a longer cable ).

-Works good for the price and doesn't take up too much room.
-I have connection problems every once and while. Unplug... restart..
-The Roll feed/cutter is a MUST.
-Archicad/mac doesn't "see" it as a plotter... it's a printer.
-Print quality changes with paper and also print setting: Fast/Normal/Best

Check with your reseller. The US price on the r model (w/roll feed) is cheaper than the standard (I guess they discontinued the nr model??)

We also have the 110.

Some comments:
- Great cost effective everyday printer, works for low volumes, coloured lines and med-res colour & B&W plots. We outsource large print runs to a bureau, and have a separate dedicated A3 colour printer (+ gloss paper).
- works well shared on a win network printer (XP). With mac, not yet sorted (trying as a windows printer - macs are never entirely happy to work over a windows network..) We will soon upgrade to an express then I'll update.
- We have pressed it into service to print on various media from watercolour paper, tracing, high gloss, etc. & worked well
- Paper size limited to 594mm - A1 short edge. But we have successfully printed from AC and other software drawings up to 3m long
- You will only once experience the pain of trying to sheet-feed A1 sheets for a set of CD's, then you will invest in a roll-feed, so save yourself the pain beforehand. It comes with a cutter.
- It does not tolerate the changing of paper sizes well, even if it does come with a2 & a3 paper trays. Put a paper roll on and trim your drawings by hand.
- Invest in a stand. It comes with a drawing basket, so you can get the plots going - it's not very fast - and not come back to an office littered with wind-blown drawings.
- Yes, it is plasticky, but nothing has broken off yet, after 3+ years it bears no scars of the occasional pre-deadline percussive maintenance sessions.
- Cartridges are not too expensive and they last.

If I had to replace it tomorrow, I'll buy the same printer.

did you ever solve your print margin troubles?
i have a dead dj 500 that i am replacing w/ a new hp 24" hp t770 and would like to be prepared to print. we are on mac os10.6x.
it sounds like the 100 series are lower cost but sound like they have shorter life and more problems. hp is giving us $600 trade in on the hp 500 making the price around $1800. this is a 6 color higher speed, quieter and energy star large format printer. will report back how it does.
thanks,
