I've been using mine now for a few days. I love it except for the loss of panning. Using the arrow keys to pan, for now. I tried the space-bar short-cut, but too cumbersome-also don't want to lose the magic wand.

@Stephen Dolbee

Instal this http://home.in.tum.de/~hegenber/BetterTouchTool.dmg
and then import this configuration file (first tab, left corner) http://files.me.com/mirimo/behhnc

After that you MM will work like normal mouse with scroll click:)

This is the first time I have used wireless devices (mouse & keybd.). Is it advisable to turn them off overnight to extend battery life, or doesn't it matter. The documentation says turn them off "if you will not be using them for an extended period". Just how long is that?

Thanks

I bought the Samuco Mouse Wizard software to try to get my magic mouse to allow me to pan but cannot seem to get it to work based upon the posted suggestions. I must be doing something wrong. Please see attached screen shot showing how I have the mouse configured. Being able to pan easily is really really important as a I am sure everyone knows. Thanks for any help.

I tried to install this (better touch tool) but found the guy doesn't support leopard - which is fine, but since I'm still using leopard, can anyone suggest a second runner up as a hack/simple app that brings middle button functionality (for panning) to the magic mouse? I'm really amazed Apple didn't think of this, since they know about 15% of their computer hardware purchasers are architects 😕

Another drivers - Magic Prefs:

For me BetterTouchTool works perfectly. Middleclick is most important of course but from dozens gestures, actions and shortcuts
I love Maximizing Windows with simple gesture (e.g. as a rule impossible with iTunes window).

Hey.. just wondering if any of you have been able to successfully use any of the swiping or tapping functions that some drivers have. I am using MagicPrefs which works fine for most that I need. I am use to something set to "delete", so I use 3 finger clicks for that (it need to be very deliberate:).
I was wanting to set going up and down a story by swiping, or something, but it is inconsistent for me. I have 4 finger click set to up a story, which works fine, but down is proving elusive. My short cuts for up and down a story are Command 5 and Command 4, but swiping and tapping can go up or down for the same stroke???? I'm getting lost.

So, maybe I'm not use to the subtitles of tapping and swiping, or is it just unreliable?

Other than that, I love it.

Hmmm, I'm using the Magic Mouse - which is great for general apps (with a little practise), but with AC I'm forever accidentally zooming in & out as I move the mouse around (my fingers move slightly on the surface of the mouse as I move it - same effect either with 'MagicPrefs' turned on or off). Is anybody else having this problem, or am I missing the obvious (other than that I'm too clumsy...)?

You might be able to turn down the touch sensitivity. I just keep my fingers hovering above the mouse when I'm not clicking/panning/zooming/etc.
