Any ideas how to backsave from 12 to 7?

Has anyone tried to downsave a project from AC12 to AC7? Is it possible at all?

I think it should be easier with save as a binary object, but still haven't succeeded!

Any ideas and experience will be greatly appreciated!

I doubt AC7 knows what IFC is! 😉

It should be possible, via AC 12 to 11, 11 to 10, etc. (There is an acknowledged bug saving from 12 to 11.) This means all versions from 12 to 7 would need to be installed. The any library parts that are not 7 will not work with the 7 file. So it should be possible, but not convenient. Why do you want a file in a format that dates to 2002?

This is what I found too, David! And I need all the LibParts and Complex Profiles from AC12. I do not expect them to work as complex profiles, I want only the geometry!
There are some nice rendering techniques I miss from AC7!

The good thing: you do not need AC8, as the 9 can write back to 8.1, 8.0, 7, 6.5 & 6.0 ...

You will not even get the geometry. No 'new' features will export to versions incapable of interpreting them.

So, if you must have the complex profiles - you will have to convert every complex profiled element into an object. But, then I don't think the objects from 12 can be down-converted into an earlier version of GDL automatically...?

I've never tried to go backwards...so don't know what tricks might work.

AC12 to AC7 sounds like a nightmare. Even just to get the geometry would be tedious and error prone with losses assured in model quality and integrity.

What can 7 do that 12 can't? All the old rendering engines are still intact.
