I am not sure if you are still dealing with issue, but this sounds like a permission problem.

A few ideas:
- run Disk Utility from Applications, Utilities
- Select the System partition
- Run Verify Permissions then Repair Disk Permissions if indicated

Also select your ArchiCAD 16 folder in Finder:
- right or ctrl click to get the context menu
- get info
- Sharing & Permissions
- make sure your user account has read and write privilege to that folder
- after making changes select the little cogwheel and apply it to all enclosed items

Did fix it by editing the permissions for the whole folder.
