Please allow attributes dialogs to remain open after a change is made

Anyone wrestling with complex materials priority issues or layer combination issues etc typically needs to test multiple iterations of attribute settings, to discover which changes work best without breaking other things.  This is made painful by dialogs that must be closed and disappear before the affects of any proposed change can manifest and be checked on screen.  After each less than perfect result, the user must yet again navigate the Options/Element Attributes/... menu to recall the dialog, then navigate within the dialog to the particular item, in order to test the impact of a slightly different setting to that item.

Please can you add a tick box to optionally keep attributes editing dialogs open while proposed changes are being tested. And allow the user to scroll around on screen, change views and select elements while the dialog remains open, and even have the dialog auto jump to displaying the relevant attributes of a selected element.
